Your packaging experts, since 1971.

1971

The Beginning

Irish Papers is founded by Miceal Mc Connon and Dan Mc Grath, operating from a modest house on Buckingham Street, Dublin. The company begins supplying essential paper products to a growing customer base across Ireland. These early years are defined by hands-on work, long hours, and a relentless drive to establish the company’s reputation for reliability and service.

1972 First Move & Early Growth

As demand increases, Irish Papers outgrows its original base and moves into a small warehouse off North Richmond Street. This additional space allows for expanded stockholding, improved logistics, and the first steps toward building a long-term distribution business.

1973 Industry Innovation

Irish Papers signs an agency agreement with Alcan Ecko, becoming one of the first companies to import foil containers into Ireland. This move establishes Irish Papers as an early innovator in the Irish packaging industry and opens the door to new partnerships, new customers, and a broader product offering.

1979

Establishing a Permanent Home

The business relocates to Unit 74, a newly constructed premises and one of the first units ever built in Baldoyle Industrial Estate. This marks a turning point, providing stability, ownership, and the operational foundation needed for the next decades of growth.

1990 A New Generation Joins

Eoin Mc Connon joins the company, bringing new energy, ideas, and a plan for long-term expansion. His involvement signals the beginning of a generational transition at Irish Papers.

1991 Sole Ownership

Miceal takes full ownership of Irish Papers from the McGrath family, making the Mc Connon family the sole owners of Irish Papers. With full ownership comes a renewed strategic focus and investment in the company’s future.

1995 International Expansion of Supply Chain

Irish Papers begins importing corrugated packaging from Turkey, specifically tailored for the food industry. This strategic move expands the company’s product portfolio, strengthens supply chains, and positions Irish Papers as a competitive importer in the growing Irish packaging market.

2000

Major Expansion of Operations

A significant extension is added to Unit 74, effectively doubling the company’s operating space. The expansion enables increased stockholding, more efficient operations, and the capacity to service a wider customer base across Ireland.

2001 Ownership Transitions to Eoin

Following years of involvement and leadership development, Eoin takes full ownership of Irish Papers from Miceal and Stella Mc Connon. Under Eoin’s leadership, the company enters a new phase of modernization, strategic growth, and operational strengthening.

2007 Additional Premises Acquired

Irish Papers purchases Unit 62, expanding its footprint within Baldoyle Industrial Estate.

2009 Company Rebrand

Irish Papers undergoes a full rebrand, modernizing its identity to reflect its evolution into a diverse, forward-focused packaging supplier. This includes updates to branding, signage, and marketing materials, repositioning the company in a competitive marketplace.

2016

Continued Expansion

The company acquires Unit 110, further growing its operational capacity. This purchase supports expanding imports, and greater logistical flexibility.

2018 Strategic Site Consolidation

Irish Papers continues investing in strategic growth with the purchase of Units 108 and 109. The additional warehouse and operational space further consolidate the company’s presence in Baldoyle, preparing it for future scale and diversification.

2025 New Acquisition & Rebrand

Irish Papers completes the purchase of Unit 75, marking yet another milestone in its long history of expansion in Baldoyle Industrial Estate. The company launches a new rebrand, symbolizing the beginning of its next chapter modern, customer-centric, and built on over 50 years of industry experience.
